Funding from the Eureko Achmea Foundation

Funding from the Eureko Achmea Foundation

We were overjoyed in August to receive funding from the Eureko Achmea Foundation in the Netherlands, enabling us to build our third daycare centre in the township of Ekangala. We have entered into an agreement with the local Roman Catholic parish to erect our building on their plot, opposite the church. We hope that this piece of land will not only house our daycare centre, but also a group home for 14 residents, which we plan to build in 2011.

Ubunye opening ceremony

We held the opening ceremony of our second daycare centre in the township of Zithobeni on June 2. The celebrations were well attended by distinguished members of the local community, the representatives of the Department of Health, as well as donors, trustees, staff and children of Sizanani Home. Guests were entertained by the singing and dancing of the children attending the centre and were served a wonderful buffet meal prepared by the chef of the Home.

Donations

Honouring the 69 years that Nelson Mandela spent serving his country, over 40 members of the Department of Transport visited our Home on 18 July to spend 69 minutes with volunteer work and present us with a large amount of donations in kind, such as disposable nappies, vaseline, soap, deodorant, blankets and clothing.
